The ‘Freedom of Electronic Information’ Act orders the Minister of Economy and Transport to operate a public data search system.

Using the public data search system anyone can access all data - more specifically, reference links to the data - published by the liable authorities. Therefore, the authorities must ensure not only publishing their data through their websites, but also to preparing the descriptive data describing their data for the public data search system.

Data from affiliated institutions are entered into the central electronic register, which is the data source for the public data search system.

The search system does not contain the public data itself, only those parts whose descriptive data has been prepared and handed over.
